Antico Olive – From Ancient Trees to Timeless Treasures

When you first hold a piece of jewelry from Antico Olive, you feel more than the smoothness of olive wood — behind each handcrafted ring, pendant, or souvenir is a story of heritage, patience, and passion.

🌿 “In 2021, I wanted to create something unique for myself and my community,” says  Mehmed the founder of Antico Olive. What started as curiosity soon grew into a journey of learning — from wood processing techniques to the care and preservation of olive wood. Inspired by Ulqin’s centuries-old olive groves, he set out to create products that are as authentic as they are meaningful.

Instead of discarding or burning pruned olive branches, Antico Olive gives them new life.

“Olive wood symbolizes peace and life. Our work reduces waste and raises awareness about protecting olive groves — a heritage thousands of years old in Ulqin.”

Working with olive wood is far from easy. As one of nature’s hardest materials, it demands patience, persistence, and dedication.

“It can be challenging, but the satisfaction of seeing the final product makes it all worthwhile,” he explains.

Today, Antico Olive products can be found at fairs, hotels, souvenir shops, and through social media. Visitors are drawn not only to the craftsmanship, but also to the story behind it. Each piece carries with it the soul of Ulqin’s olives, where tradition and sustainability meet.

Looking ahead, Antico Olive dreams of becoming a recognizable brand for Ulqin, proudly representing Montenegro’s cultural and natural heritage. “I work with passion and independence, and I hope this inspires others. My advice to anyone starting this craft is simple: stay persistent and never give up. Working with olive wood is difficult, but the result is always rewarding.”
